Windows and doors

Windows and doors fitted in Southport

I fit uPVC windows, composite front and back doors, French and patio doors, bifolds, conservatories and porches. I measure up myself and fit it myself.

Windows

Most people ring me about windows. I come out and measure up, order them in, then fit them myself.

What I fit

I fit Rehau, VEKA, Eurocell and Liniar.

Most of my jobs are casements and bays, but I do tilt and turn too, including an arched one made to fit an old opening, and sash-style windows on older houses. Most people go for white. I've also fitted grey, black and oak-effect, with Georgian bars or leaded glass on some.

It can be one bedroom window or the whole house. I've done a five-bedroom house top to bottom, and plenty of single windows that have blown.

I trim every window up inside and out myself before I go.

How a window job goes

I come round, have a look and go through the options with you, and you'll have a quote within 48 hours. If you're happy with the figures, I come back and do a proper survey. The windows are made to measure and usually take about two weeks to come in. Then I fit them, trim them up, take the old ones away and clean up.

Composite doors

Doors are my favourite job.

Front and back doors

You choose the colour, the glass and the handles, and I measure up and fit it. I've fitted red, black, grey, anthracite and pale blue composite doors, some with side panels or a glass top light, and one with an arched glass surround.

I fit uPVC doors as well, including stable doors where the top and bottom open separately, and oak-effect. If you've got a cat or a dog, I can put a pet flap in.

If your old door has dropped

Before you buy a new one, it might just need re-aligning, or new hinges or a new lock. Have a look at my repairs page, or ring me and I'll come and have a look.

French and patio doors

I fit new French and patio doors, and I repair old ones that have dropped, stick or won't lock.

New French and patio doors

French doors with or without side panels, arched French doors under a fanlight, French doors onto a Juliet balcony, and sliding patio doors. I've fitted them on extensions, back walls and a garage. I've done them in white, grey and black. They're made to measure.

Repairs to patio doors

A lot of the time I can fix a patio door rather than replace it. The usual problems are doors that have dropped, runners that have gone stiff, and locks or handles that have worn out.

Bifold doors

I fit aluminium and uPVC bifold doors, mostly on extensions and kitchens.

What I've fitted

Three sections is the usual size, but they can go a lot wider than that. I've fitted them across the back of new extensions, into kitchens, and on the front of a sandwich shop.

I fit both aluminium and uPVC, and I'll go through the difference when I come to measure.

Measuring for bifolds

Bifolds have to be measured spot on or they won't run and lock right, so I measure them myself.

Conservatories and porches

I build conservatories and porches, and a lot of my work is fixing ones people already have.

New conservatories and porches

I've done lean-tos on the back of bungalows, porches on the front of all sorts of houses, and one conservatory built round a hot tub. I can put window boards in and a new front door on a porch too.

I rebuilt a conservatory after a fire took out the house and the conservatory. The new one was finished before the customer moved back in.

Conservatory repairs

I fix leaking conservatory roofs, conservatory gutters that need re-aligning, misted glass, and locks and handles on conservatory doors. I also re-seal round frames and repair old wooden conservatories.

Questions people ask me

How long do new windows take?

Once you've said yes, they usually take about two weeks to come in. How long the fit takes depends on how many there are. I'll tell you when I quote.

Which window brands do you fit?

Rehau, VEKA, Eurocell and Liniar. They're the most popular and I find them the best quality for the money.

Can I have coloured or woodgrain windows?

Yes. I've fitted grey, black and oak-effect as well as white. I'll show you what's available when I come out.

My door has dropped and won't lock. Do I need a new one?

Not always. It can often be re-aligned, or the hinges or lock replaced.

Can you repair a patio door rather than replace it?

Often, yes. Dropped doors, stiff runners and worn locks and handles can usually be sorted.

Aluminium or uPVC bifolds?

Both are fine. Aluminium frames are slimmer, so there's more glass; uPVC usually costs less. I'll show you both.

My conservatory roof is leaking. Can you fix it?

Usually. It's normally failed seals, a glazing bar, or the gutter. I'll find where it's getting in and tell you what it needs.
